Insight Online News

Mumbai, Jul 26 : The senior leaders and activists of the Congress party staged an agitation here on Tuesday to protest against the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate against party president Sonia Gandhi for second time in connection with National Herald case.

The activists and leaders, led by Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Nana Patole, gathered in front of the Mantralaya in Mumbai and expressed their anger over rash action by the central government.
Addressing the gathering, Patole said that the Gandhi family has sacrificed for this country and asserted that the Congress will continue to raise its voice against the fact that the Gandhi family is being persecuted by the (Narendra) Modi government in the name of investigation.

As the Congress party, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are constantly keeping the central government on edge, there is a conspiracy to book them in a false case, he maintained.

The Narendra Modi government at the Centre has started the politics of eliminating the Opposition in the country and repression is being done through the central machinery, the MPCC chief added.

Legislature Congress leader and former minister Balasaheb Thorat, former chief minister Ashok Chavan, Mumbai Congress president Bhai Jagtap, former minister Varsha Gaikwad, Aslam Sheikh and Mumbai Youth Congress president Zeeshan Siddiqui, among others, were present during the agitation.
