Sensex surges over 600 pts

Mumbai, Mar 1 : The BSE Sensex on Friday spurted 640.74 pts at 73141.94 in opening session as buying was seen in Metal, Oil and Gas, Energy and Power stocks.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 210.10 pts at 22192.90.
The Sensex registered intra days high and low at 73155.61 and 72591.14 pts respectively.
The Nifty registered intra days high and low at 22,196.40 and 20,047.75 pts respectively.
The Mid Cap moved up 0.53 pc and Small Cap by 0.74 pc.
In 30 scrips, 26 advanced while 4 declined.
The gainers were JSW Steel by 3.61 pc to Rs 829, Tata Steel by 3.26 pc to Rs 145.50, Tata Motors by 2.25 pc to Rs 972.20, L&T by 2.18 pc to Rs 3557.50 and Powergrid by 1.79 pc to Rs 287.60.
The losers were Infosys by 0.72 pc to Rs 1663.05, HCL Technology by 0.16 pc to Rs 1664.45 and Tech Mahindra by 0.07 pc to Rs 1275.40.
